What a embarrassment to our country. Thank feck we have moved on from this stupidity.

It has been discovered recently that someone had been putting magic mushrooms in the adjacent holy water font. The parishioners would bless themselves and the drug from the mushroom would enter their metabolism via the skin in their forehead and as result of the drug they would subsequently see visions including movement of the statue. Suspicion fell on a local man who would sell sandwiches and drinks from a mobile van shop at the location. It’s believed he would soak magic mushrooms in plain water and exchange the holy water for this. I have this on very good authority. A Garda investigation was started but the Catholic Church stopped it as they didn’t want the adverse publicity .

Religious fervour meets rural tedium in a spectacle of utter mass hysteria. I regard this whole phenomenon as a kind of social death throe reflex, as simple, devout and rural piety was about to give way to modernity. This struggle manifested itself, most absurdly, in front of these "moving statues". Thank God those days are behind us 😉.

Meanwhile,the local economy has gotten a boon of a boost!! Good on the marketers,whomever they be!
